Serie A TIM: an average of 18,265 spectators per game (-32.9%) & fill rate of 48.4% in 2021-22

The 20 Serie A TIM clubs drew an average of 18,265 spectators per game during the 2021-22 season, down 27.1% from the 2018-19 season (25,068 spectators per game) - the last season to be played in full without the slightest restriction on public attendance - and by 32.9% compared to 2019-20 (27,207 spectators), a season in which the last 12 matchdays were played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic (the 2020-21 season took place almost entirely behind closed doors for the same reason).

The Italian top flight thus occupies last place among the European Top 5 in terms of average attendance for the season, behind the Ligue 1 Uber Eats (21,038 spectators), which it would normally out-perform.

The Italian championship saw its attendance figures plummet as a result of the restrictions imposed on spectators in the country's sports venues by the authorities in the fight against Covid-19.
