Stade de France incidents: UEFA apologises to fans after the "frightening and distressing events"

"UEFA wishes to sincerely apologise to all spectators who had to experience or witness frightening and distressing events in the build-up to the UEFA Champions League final at the Stade de France on 28/05/2022 in Paris (FRA), on a night which should have been a celebration of European club football. No football fan should be put in that situation, and it must not happen again," said the European body on 03/06/2022.

Transport problems, then problems with filtering, long queues and incidents that could be linked in part to numerous counterfeit tickets, pushing and shoving, tear gas, attacks on spectators, scenes of chaos: all these events in the vicinity of the Stade au France delayed the kick-off of the 2022 Champions League final, Liverpool FC (Premier League) - Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) (0-1), scheduled for 28/05/2022 at 21:00 CET, by 35 minutes.
