2022-23 European Top 5: Girona FC - CD Tenerife in the LaLiga SmartBank playoff final

Champions, clubs qualified for European cups, relegated clubs... The European Top 5 leagues have all been decided. Only the identity of the third and final Spanish club that will be promoted to LaLiga Santander for the 2022-23 season remains to be determined as of 07/06/2022.

The 2021-22 LaLiga SmartBank playoff final, which will determine which club will join UD Almería and Real Valladolid CF - promoted to LaLiga Santander directly after finishing the season in the top two places in the second division - will pit Girona FC versus CD Tenerife on Saturday 11 (first leg) and Sunday 19/06/2022 (second leg).

In the semi-finals, Girona FC eliminated SD Eibar (1-0 defeat in the first leg, 2-0 victory in the second leg) while CD Tenerife beat UD Las Palmas twice (1-0, 2-1). The Catalan club previously reached the LaLiga SmartBank playoff final in 2020-21, but was defeated by Rayo Vallecano de Madrid.
