Borussia Dortmund: Evonik Industries increases its stake in the club from 9.06% to 14.78%

The German company Evonik Industries, an industrial supplier of petrochemicals, increased its stake in Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) and now holds 14.78% of the club's shares, the club announced on 16/09/2014. Evonik Industries, the club's shirt sponsor through 2025, held 9.06% of the Borussia Dortmund's shares since 27/06/2014.

Evonik thus becomes the main shareholder of the club ahead of Bernd Geske, a German businessman, who owns 8.21% of the shares.

The German sport brand Puma has become a shareholder of the club with 5% of its shares. The German insurance company Signal Iduna, which owns the naming rights of the BVB's stadium (capacity 80,700) through 2025-26, acquired 5.43% of the club's shares.

These transactions were carried out as a capital increase through the issuance of 24.55m shares valued at €4.66 each, or €114.7m in total, onto the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Germany) on 21/08/2014. 17.6m of these shares (or 71.69% of the increased capital) were reserved for three of Dortmund's partners: Puma, Evonik Industries, and Signal Iduna.
