LaLiga Santander: an average of 22,979 spectators per game (-20.4%) & fill rate of 59% in 2021-22

The 20 LaLiga Santander clubs drew an average of 22,979 spectators per match during the 2021-22 season, down 13.6% versus the 2018-19 season (26,585 spectators) - the last to be played in full without any crowd restrictions - and 20.4% compared to 2019-20 (28,868 spectators), a year in which the last nine matchdays were played entirely behind closed doors due to Covid-19 (the 2020-21 season was played almost exclusively behind closed doors for the same reason). The Spanish top flight hosted just over 8.7 million spectators in total.

LaLiga Santander, which usually ranks third among the European Top 5 leagues in terms of attendance, finished the 2021-22 season in second place, well behind the Premier League (average attendance of 39,989) but ahead of the Bundesliga (21,038), which normally ranks first.
