WADA: Valérie Fourneyron appointed president of Health, Medical and Research Committee

Valérie Fourneyron has been appointed president of the Health, Medical and Research Committee of WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) on 20/09/2014.

Valérie Fourneyron is appointed for a two year mandate, or through September 2016. She will replace Arne Ljungqvist (Sweden). The Health, Medical and Research Committee is in charge of the prohibited list, of the therapeutic use exemptions, of the laboratory accreditation, and of gene doping.

Valérie Fourneyron has been a member of the WADA Executive Committee since 2012. She was the French Minister of Sports, Youth, Non-Formal Education and Voluntary Organizations from 17/05/2012 to 02/04/2014.

WADA has four working committee chairs:

  • The Athlete Committee, chaired by Beckie Scott (CAN)
  • The Education Committee, chaired by Edwin Moses (USA)
  • The Finance and Administration Committee, chaired by Francesco Ricci Bitti (ITA)
  • The Health, Medical and Research Committee, chaired by Valérie Fourneyron (FRA)
