United Kingdom: Dan Roan appointed as the BBC's sports editor

Dan Roan has been appointed as the BBC's sports editor, the British media outlet announced on 24/09/2014.

Dan Roan has worked at BBC Sport since 2010, and been its chief sports correspondent since April 2013. He has previously worked at Sky Sports News.

"Dan already has a significant following on social media and one of his priorities as editor will be to make even more impact with our sports journalism on the BBC Sport website," stated Barbara Slater, the director of BBC Sport.

Dan Roan will begin his new position with immediate effect.

  • Dan Roan led the BBC's sports news coverage at the 2014 World Cup (Brazil, 12/06/2014 to 13/07/2014.
    • He has also reported from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, the 2012 European Championship in Poland and Ukraine, and the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
