Financial Fair Play: LaLiga files complaint against PSG, adding to another against Manchester City

"LaLiga has filed a complaint with UEFA against Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), which adds to another against Manchester City FC (Premier League) in April, on the grounds that these clubs are in continuous breach of the current financial fair play rules," announced the Spanish league on 15/06/2022.

"What Paris Saint-Germain is doing to extend (Kylian) Mbappé with large sums of money... after making losses of €700m in recent seasons and while having a wage bill of €600m is an INSULT to football. (Nasser) Al-Khelaïfi (president of PSG) is as dangerous as the Super League," wrote LaLiga president Javier Tebas on Twitter on 21/05/2022, before the official announcement of the contract extension the same evening.

"LaLiga considers that these practices alter the ecosystem and sustainability of football, harm all European clubs and leagues, and only serve to artificially inflate the market, with money not generated within football itself," said the Spanish body chaired by Javier Tebas, who is also a member of the UEFA executive committee as a representative of European Leagues.
