Spain: Atresmedia, Mediapro and TV3 acquire TV rights for 2015-2018 Champions League seasons

The Spanish TV groups Atresmedia, Mediapro and TV3 acquired the TV rights for Spain of the Champions League for the 2015-2018 period on 24/09/2014. The rights cover all broadcasting platforms (TV, Internet and mobile).

Atresmedia will broadcast, on its free channel Antena 3, one fixture during each Champions League Matchday on Tuesday nights as well as the Champions League final and the 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 European Supercups. The cost of the purchase is estimated at €30m per season. Atresmedia broadcasted the Champions League in Spain in the 2006-2009 period.

The Catalan public broadcasting group TV3 will broadcast the same fixtures as Atresmedia for €5m per season.

Mediapro, via its pay-TV group Gol Televisión, will broadcast all of the other fixtures of the competition on the channel TV Gol T and on the Internet and mobile platform Gol Stadium. The cost of the acquisition surpasses the €100m per season that the Spanish pay-TV group Canal+ Spain paid in the 2012-2015 period, according to Spanish media on 24/09/2014.
