2022-23 Sky Bet Championship: season to start with Huddersfield - Burnley on 29/07/2022

The 2022-23 Sky Bet Championship season will begin on Friday 29/07/2022, with play-off finalists Huddersfield Town AFC facing Burnley FC, relegated from the Premier League in 2021-22, at the John Smith's Stadium (24,500 capacity), according to the EFL, which published its calendar for the 24 clubs, on 23/06/2022. The opening match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports (kick-off at 20:00 local time) in the UK.

During the 2022-23 season, for the first time ever the FIFA World Cup will be held during the winter period, in Qatar, from Monday 21/11 to Sunday 18/12/2022. As such Sky Bet Championship matches will be paused between 12/11 (final matchday before the 2022 World Cup) and 10/12/2022.
