"Thanks to everything that has been happening in Saudi Arabia for the past three years, our club's budget has reached around €150m every year. Our commercial revenues have increased eightfold between the 2020-21 and 2021-22 season thanks in particular to five new sponsors. Sponsorship is worth around $40m (€38m) over the season," said Ahmed Alghamdi, CEO of Al Nassr FC (Saudi Pro League), to News Tank Football on 30/03/2022.

Al Nassr FC is one of three Riyadh-based Saudi Arabian championship clubs, along with Al Hilal SC and Al Shabab FC. Under a government initiative, Saudi football has been undergoing significant development for several years. While all the clubs are part of this development, Al Nassr is unique in its ambition to develop women's football.

"We started this project nine months ago. We now have almost 50 female players. Our goal is to reach 300 by next season (2022-23). We started by opening women's sections in basketball and volleyball. We were very surprised by the talent of some of them and so we continued with football," said the Saudi executive.
