The DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga, the German professional football league) announced the launch of a tender for the introduction and operation of goal-line technology in the Bundesliga on 22/09/2014.

"The new system is to be implemented at the earliest possible moment, although not before 01/07/ 2015. The contract will run until the end of the 2017-18 season," explained the DFL.

The potential suppliers of the goal-line technology, who must hold a FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) licence, had until 25/09/2014 to ask the DFL for an application. The application contained both the tender and its schedule, which was not disclosed in detail by the German league.

The result of the tender should be known prior to the DFL's next general assembly in December 2014, during which the 18 clubs in Bundesliga will decide whether or not to introduce goal-line technology in the league starting in 2015-16.
