Bundesliga: Kay Bernstein elected president of Hertha BSC by the club's members

Kay Bernstein has been elected president of Hertha BSC (Bundesliga) during the club's annual general meeting held at the CityCube Berlin (Berlin, GER) in front of 3,150 members on 26/06/2022. He received 1,670 votes in the first round, compared to 1,280 for Frank Steffel and 26 for Marvin Brumme, his two opponents.

Kay Bernstein succeeds Werner Gegenbauer, who had announced his resignation on 24/05/2022. Fabian Drescher, a member of the Hertha BSC board of directors, has been promoted to vice-president after obtaining 1,966 votes, while Tim Kauermann (835 votes) and Hans-Joachim Bläsing have joined the board of directors, which already consists of Ingmar Pering, Peer Mock-Stümer and Anne Jüngermann, for a total of seven people.

The annual general meeting brings to a close a difficult year for the Berlin club - 16^th in the Bundesliga at the end of the season - which only secured its place in the top flight after a play-off victory over Hamburger Sport-Verein (0-1, 2-0), third in the 2.Bundesliga.
