Serie A TIM: Abu Dhabi Media acquires TV rights in the MENA region until 2024-25 ($26m/year)

The pay and free-TV group Abu Dhabi Media Company has acquired the broadcasting rights to the Serie A TIM, for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, until 2024-25, announced Lorenzo Casini, president of Lega Serie A, during the League's general assembly held in Milan (ITA), on 30/06/2022.

"The audiovisual rights in the MENA zone have been awarded to Abu Dhabi Media (and to the leading video-on-demand subscription service Starzplay), with a three-year offer superior to the original five-year offer, with higher amounts. Abu Dhabi Media will pay $23m, $25m and $31m (€22.1m, €24.1m and €29.8m) over three years respectively, but the figure may increase depending on the revenue share. According to estimates, there could still be between $20m and $30m (€19.1m and €28.7m)," said Casini.

Bids for the Serie A TIM broadcasting rights in the Middle East and North Africa had been deemed "insufficient" by the Italian league at the general assembly on 13/01/2022.
