Bundesliga: 8 million additional fans for Bayern Munich on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram in 2021-22

The 18 clubs in the 2021-22 Bundesliga have a total of 153.7 million fans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as of 01/07/2022, which is 13.6 million more than on 01/08/2021, according to data compiled by News Tank Football. The Bundesliga is the least popular European Top 5 league on all three social networks combined with an average of around 8.5 million fans per club.

FC Bayern Munich is the most followed club with 94 million fans. The 2021-22 German champions gained just over 8 million additional followers (+9.4%) over the entire season, 71% of which were on Instagram alone. No German club performed better during the period.

Borussia Dortmund, the second most popular club in the Bundesliga with 35.6 million followers, added nearly 3 million fans over the course of the year (+9.2%). Bayer 04 Leverkusen complete the podium with nearly 5.3 million followers, including almost 670,000 more on Twitter since 01/07/2021 (+14.6%).
