Gambia: Kabba Bajo, former sports minister, elected president of the federation

Kabba Bajo was elected president of the GFF (Gambia Football Association) on 20/09/2014. He received 28 votes out of 51 (54.9%), ahead Buba Bojang Mbye (23 votes).

Kabba Bajo, 49, was the Gambian sports minister from 1997 to 1998, and was also his country's ambassador to Qatar in 2009.

The election was organised by the Normalisation Committee, set up by the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) Emergency Committee on 10/07/2014.

The appointment of the committee followed the decision of the CAF (Confederation of African Football), which suspended the GFF from all African competitions for two years on 30/04/2014. The confederation accused Gambia of fielding five players beyond the age limit during the Liberia-Gambia (0-1 on 06/04/2014) qualifying match for the U-20 African Cup of Nations,
