Huawei, the Chinese information technology and communications group, extended its partnership with the LFP (Spanish Professional Football League) for the 2014-15 season, announced the league on 27/09/2014.

The agreement includes a marketing campaign targeting three markets: Latin America, the Middle East and China, regions where the league would like to increase its exposure. Huawei continues its aggressive acquisition of sponsorship rights in Europe. The Chinese company already operates in Spain through its partnership with Atlético Madrid (Liga BBVA).

The company, which achieved 66% of its 2013 sales outside China, is hoping to increase its sales of electronic products (mainly smartphones and tablets). 75% of its turnover in 2013 (€29.87bn euros in total) relate to the telecom operations sector.

  • The extension of the partnership was presented by Javier Tebas, president of the LFP, from the Spanish Embassy in Beijing (China).
