AS Saint-Étienne: "No firm offers to buy the club" (B. Caïazzo and R. Romeyer, shareholders)

"The shareholders of AS Saint-Étienne wish to make it known that, contrary to what may have been written in the press, they have not received any firm offers to buy the club to date," said Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer, co-owners of AS Saint-Étienne (relegated to the Ligue 2 BKT at the end of the 2021-22 Ligue 1 Uber Eats season), on 02/07/2022.

The two directors, respectively chairman of the supervisory board and chairman of the management board of AS Saint-Étienne, responded to AFP's report that exclusive negotiations with American businessman David Blitzer for the purchase of the club had collapsed, with the latter having revised his offer downwards.

"Discussions are continuing actively with several candidate buyers via KPMG. The shareholders reiterate that their desire to sell the club is irrevocable and that it will be completed. Their only concern is the durability of the institution with an excellent management team managed by Jean-François Soucasse (executive president), Loïc Perrin (sports coordinator) and Laurent Battles (new head coach) to succeed in a great sporting…
