LaLiga Santander: +25 million fans for Real Madrid on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter in 2021-22

The 20 clubs that participated in the 2021-22 LaLiga Santander have a total of 597.1 million fans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as of 01/07/2022, which is 45.9 million more than on 01/08/2021, according to data compiled by News Tank Football. LaLiga Santander is the second most popular European Top 5 league on these three social networks combined, behind the Premier League, with an average of nearly 29.9 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF is the most followed club with 276.4 million fans. The 2021-22 Spanish and European champions gained 25.4 million additional followers (+10.1%) over the entire season, 77.4% of which were on Instagram alone. The club posted the second best increase in the European Top 5, behind Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats, +29 million followers) but ahead of Manchester United FC (Premier League, +23.9 million).
