Rugby: French Development Agency, France 2023 & Rugby Africa plan joint actions on the continent

The French Development Agency (AFD) and Rugby Africa (African Rugby Confederation), with the support of the France 2023 organising committee, have announced that they "intend to carry out a joint portfolio of development actions through rugby" on the occasion of the final of the African Zone qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Cup (to be played in France) on 10/07/2022.

"The partners commit, through an agreement, to promote the values of rugby and to contribute to the legacy policy of France 2023. This partnership also maintains AFD's and Rugby Africa's shared desire to bring the 2023 World Cup to life on the African continent," said AFD.

The partnership is based on three axes:
• "Setting up an AFD x Rugby Africa call for projects to support project leaders on the African continent who use rugby as a vector for development and in particular to make women's rugby a real tool for the emancipation of women and girls;
