Boxing: Sky acquires UK broadcasting rights to Alexander Usyk - Anthony Joshua fight (20/08/2022)

The British pay-TV bouquet Sky Sports has acquired the exclusive UK broadcasting rights to the fight between world heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk (UKR) and Anthony Joshua (GBR), which will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 20/08/2022, according to British media on 07/07/2022.

Sky Sports, which had held the rights to broadcast Anthony Joshua's fights in the United Kingdom since 2013 before they were handed over to the OTT platform DAZN in mid-June 2022, is said to have acquired the rights for a fee of £28m (€32.9m).

DAZN renewed and extended its partnership with Anthony Joshua as part of a multi-year agreement on 13/06/2022. In addition to continuing to broadcast the British boxer's fights internationally as it has since 2018, the OTT platform has also become the exclusive broadcaster of the fights in the UK, although the fight against Alexander Usyk is not included in the new agreement.

• The fight on 20/08/2022 will serve as a rematch after a first clash between the two men (defeat for Joshua) in London (ENG) on 26/09/2021.
