Newcastle United FC: Darren Eales (ex-Atlanta United, MLS) appointed CEO, effective 22/08/2022

Englishman Darren Eales, president and chief executive of Atlanta United (MLS) since it was founded in September 2014, has been appointed as the new CEO of Newcastle United FC (Premier League), effective from 22/08/2022, announced the English club on 15/07/2022. Eales will remain at Atlanta United until 08/08/2022.

Eales has led Atlanta United "since they joined MLS as an expansion club in 2017, helping steer a club that routinely ranks among the highest attendance-wise across the league. They won MLS Cup in 2018 and also captured US Open Cup and Campeones Cup titles in 2019," said Newcastle United FC. Prior to his post at the MLS club, Darren Eales served as legal director and club secretary of West Bromwich Albion FC (Sky Bet Championship) from 2006 to 2010, then subsequently became director of football administration at Tottenham Hotspur FC (Premier League) in 2010.
