Atlético de Madrid: Civitas (real estate) succeeds Wanda as title sponsor of the Metropolitano

The Spanish real estate group Civitas has acquired the naming rights to the Estadio Metropolitano (Madrid, ESP), which will take on the name "Civitas Metropolitano" for ten years (2022-2032), announced Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander), who have been playing at the stadium since the 2017-18 season, on 19/07/2022.

The agreement is said to be for an annual fee higher than the €10m paid each season by the Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group (tourism/entertainment), the previous title sponsor of the stadium (2017-2022), according to Spanish media the same day.

Civitas will benefit from the status of "main sustainability sponsor" and will be involved in the construction of the Madrid club's new "Ciudad del Deporte" (Sports City), adjacent to the Civitas Metropolitano. This project, also presented on 19/07/2022 and estimated at €200m, includes a 6,000-seat stadium that will host the club's reserve and women's teams, as well as a high performance centre and several sports facilities accessible to the general public.
