"We have the means and the determination to rebuild a great club, faithful to the navy and white colours," wrote Gérard Lopez, owner and president of FC Girondins de Bordeaux (Ligue 2 BKT) in an open letter published via Twitter on 28/07/2022, the day after the FFF's decision to keep the club in the Ligue 2 BKT and two days before the first league match of the season, at the Matmut Atlantique, versus Valenciennes FC on Saturday 30/07/2022 (kick-off at 19:00, broadcast in France on Amazon Prime Video and on La chaine L'Équipe).

"Although everything can now be played out on the pitch, it is also thanks to the precious support of the club's friends, whom I would like to sincerely thank. The mobilisation of the president of the the Bordeaux Metropole (Alain Anziani), the Mayor of Bordeaux (Pierre Hurmic), the vice-president of the Senate (Nathalie Delattre), members of parliament and local elected representatives has made it possible to alert the public authorities and public opinion to an unjust decision with devastating consequences.
