The OTT platform DAZN has acquired the full and exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ligue 1 Uber Eats for Japan from the 2022-23 season, announced the platform on 01/08/2022. DAZN is said to have acquired these rights for the next two seasons for an annual amount of between €1-2m, according to the French sports daily L'Équipe.

DAZN has acquired these rights from the Qatari group beIN Media Group, which holds the international rights to the Ligue 1 Uber Eats over the 2018-2024 cycle. The deal began with the broadcast of the 2022 Trophée des Champions, won by Paris Saint-Germain versus FC Nantes (4-0) on Sunday 31/07/2022.

"This agreement marks the return of Ligue 1 to Japanese football fans, where all eyes will be on Paris Saint-Germain as they race to the top of the table," said the platform.

DAZN held the exclusive full broadcasting rights to Ligue 1 in Japan during the 2018-2021 cycle, but the French league had no broadcaster in the country for the 2021-22 season.
