Sponsorship: major changes among the Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs for the 2022-23 season

The 2022-23 Ligue 1 Uber Eats season begins this Friday 05/08/2022 with 37 new sponsorship deals among the 20 competing clubs (as of 03/08/2022), compared to 104 for the entire 2021-22 season.

With four clubs under contract (20%), adidas remains the most represented equipment manufacturer in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats. In total, 10 different brands are displayed on the shirts of Ligue 1 clubs, considering that Nike and Jordan Brand, the latter belonging to the former, constitute a single brand.

Two changes of equipment supplier and two extensions are to be noted for this new season. The total amount paid by equipment suppliers to the Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs is €121.5m (from 10 known amounts). The agreement between Paris Saint-Germain and Nike (€80m/season) alone represents 65.8% of the total.

While Paris Saint-Germain are committed to their equipment supplier until 2031-32, the longest current contract in the French league (43 years since 1989-90, versus an average of 10.4 years), they will have new shirt sponsors in 2022-23. Qatar Airways will take over from Accor as main shirt sponsor…
