Matchday 1 of the 2022-23 Premier League season drew an average of 41,601 spectators per game, from Friday 05 to Sunday 07/08/2022. The average fill rate was 98.8%.

Manchester United FC - Brighton & Hove Albion FC (1-2) on 07/08/2022 (kick-off at 15:00 CET) was the game that posted the best attendance of the matchday with 73,711 spectators at Old Trafford (74,879 capacity), for a fill rate of 98.4%.

Matchday 1 of the 2021-22 Premier League season had drawn an average of 37,157 spectators per game, for a fill rate of nearly 96%.

  • The 20 Premier League clubs posted a record average of 39,989 spectators per game during the 2021-22 season, up 3.9% versus the 2018-19 season (38,484 spectators) - the last to be played in full without any capacity restrictions - and up 1.6% on 2019-20 (39,350 spectators), a year in which the last nine matchdays were played behind closed doors due to Covid-19 (the 2020-21 season was played almost exclusively behind closed doors for the same reason).
