LaLiga Santander: Canal+ becomes the exclusive broadcaster in sub-Saharan Africa from 2022-23

Canal+ has extended its broadcasting rights, in sub-Saharan Africa, to become the exclusive French-language pay-TV broadcaster of LaLiga Santander from the 2022-23 season, announced the pay-TV group on 09/08/2022.

LaLiga Santander was previously co-broadcast in French in sub-Saharan Africa by Canal+ and StarTimes, a Chinese audiovisual group established in Africa, over the 2020-2024 cycle. The termination of this co-broadcast could be due to the non-payment of installments by StarTimes to LaLiga.

"Thanks to this agreement, our on-air coverage of LaLiga will be strengthened. Indeed, as soon as LaLiga resumes on 12/08/2022, subscribers will be able to watch the best LaLiga and LaLiga SmartBank fixtures on each matchday, as well as the 'LaLiga World' and 'LaLiga SmartBank Highlights' magazines, on the Canal+ Sport channels, also available via the Canal+ app," said the group.
