Merchandising: Liga Portugal to use LaLiga Tech to prevent online counterfeiting

Liga Portugal and LaLiga Tech, a range of technological solutions provided by the Spanish professional league, have entered into a partnership in order to "improve the technology development" of the Portuguese football league, announced LaLiga on 08/08/2022.

As part of the agreement, the 34 member clubs of Liga Portugal will benefit from 'Brand Protection' solutions that are "exclusively designed to monitor, report and remove the sale of counterfeit products online," said the Spanish body.

"Counterfeit products damage club revenues, supplier relationships and fan experiences. Since launching its services last year, LaLiga Tech has helped sports properties to protect over €9bn worth of content and establish more direct and profitable relationships with their fans, which underlines technology’s ability to further strengthen the industry," said Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga.
