2022-23 LaLiga Santander: all you need to know about the 20 clubs

Real Madrid CF, the 2021-22 Spanish champions, will put their title back on the line from Friday 12/08/2022, when the 2022-23 LaLiga Santander season kicks off.

The Madrid club will try to retain their title against many ambitious opponents, starting with FC Barcelona, eager to get back on track after failing to win a major trophy in 2021-22, but also and above all experiencing financial difficulties from which the Catalan club is gradually recovering, thanks to the sale of certain assets (Barça Studios, TV rights). Club Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla FC will compete alongside both clubs in the group stage of the Champions League. Real Betis Balompié, winners of the Copa del Rey, and Real Sociedad have qualified for the Europa League, while Villarreal CF will participate in the play-offs of the Europa Conference League (on 18 and 25/08/2022 against Hajduk Split, CRO) in an attempt to reach the group stage.
