FC Barcelona: Orpheus Media, led by Jaume Roures, acquires 24.5% of Barça Studios for €100m

Orpheus Media, an audiovisual production company led by Jaume Roures (founder of Mediapro), has acquired 24.5% of Barça Studios for €100m, announced FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) on 12/08/2022. Socios.com, a cryptocurrency blockchain platform owned by ChiliZ and Mediarex Sports & Entertainment, has bought an equivalent share of the club's subsidiary dedicated to the creation, production and marketing of its audiovisual and digital offering, for a similar amount, on 29/07/2022. The Catalan club therefore remains the majority shareholder with 51% of the capital.

In addition to providing the funds that Barça, which is heavily in debt, needs in order to increase the wage bill limit set by LaLiga and thus register the contracts of several players before the 2022-23 LaLiga Santander season kicks off this Saturday 13/08/2022 (with the reception of Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou), this operation will also "help to accelerate the growth of the club's digital, NFT and Web3 strategy."
