Spain/Mediapro: Gol becomes "Gol Play" and will broadcast other content in addition to sports

The Spanish free DTT sports channel "Gol" has become "Gol Play", announced the Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro on 19/08/2022.

"The channel is strengthening its programming schedule by adding new fiction and entertainment content such as series, films and factuals. Gol Play is keeping what has made it so successful, live free-to-air sports coverage, as well as its emblematic programs but is now complementing it with new content to be able to attract a wider range of viewers. The new content will be aired in the slots where there is no live content," explained Mediapro.

Gol notably holds the rights to broadcast one free-to-air LaLiga Santander game per matchday (until 2024-25), one free-to-air Europa League or Europa Conference League game per matchday (until 2023-24) and regularly broadcasts live boxing and UFC fights.
