Tennis: record prize money of over $60m for the 2022 US Open (+4.3% compared to 2021)

The prize money for the 2022 edition of the US Open Grand Slam, which will take place from 29/08 to 11/09/2022, will reach a record of "more than $60m" (€58.9m), an increase of 4.3% compared to 2021 ($57.5m/€48.6m as of 12/09/2021) and of 12.3% compared to 2020 ($53.4m/€45m as of 12/09/2020), announced the United States Tennis Association, on 18/08/2022.

This is the highest overall prize money of the four Grand Slam tournaments played in 2022 (see below).

The 2022 men's and women's singles winners will take home $2.6m (€2.55m, +4% vs 2021), and the singles finalists $1.3m (€1.27m, +4%). The prize money for singles players eliminated in the first round has increased by 6.6% ($80,000/€78,630) compared to 2021 and "by 85% since 2016," according to the competition's organisers.
