Financial Sustainability: UEFA sends settlement agreement to Paris SG & Olympique de Marseille

Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille have been targeted by UEFA sanctions in the context of financial sustainability (formerly financial fair play), according to the French sports daily L'Équipe on 19/08/2022.

After several weeks of "increased surveillance", UEFA experts have issued a request to receive additional information on the accounts of the two clubs. Unconvinced by the records of the two French clubs, the confederation's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) has sent a "settlement agreement" to the two Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The settlement agreement would include financial penalties and targets to be met over the next few seasons, under pain of risking sporting sanctions such as exclusion, with or without suspension, from European competitions.

Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the information to L'Équipe, while "disagreeing" with UEFA's analysis. Both clubs are expected to provide their response (accepting or rejecting the settlement agreement) this week, according to the French sports daily.
