Turkey: Sport Republic, owner of Southampton FC (Premier League), acquires Göztepe SK (D2)

Sport Republic, an investment company in the sports and entertainment industry based in London (ENG), has acquired a majority stake in Göztepe SK (TUR, relegated to the second division after the 2021-22 season), announced both parties on 19/08/2022.

Already an 80% owner of Southampton FC (Premier League) since January 2022, the English company owned by Serbian businessman Dragan Šolak, by "purchasing a 70% shareholding of Göztepe SK will become the first foreign investor within the Turkish football industry," said the Izmir (TUR) club and its new shareholder. Turkish Mehmet Sepil, who acquired Göztepe in 2014, retains a 30% stake but will leave his post of chairman and will be replaced by Rasmus Ankersen, CEO of Sport Republic.
