UFC (MMA): first event held in France to be broadcast free-to-air by L'Équipe on 03/09/2022

La chaine L'Équipe has acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights in France for the first mixed martial arts (MMA) event to be organised by the UFC in France, which will be held at the Accor Arena (Paris) on Saturday 03/09/2022, announced the channel on 25/08/2022.

The live broadcast of the event will start at 22:30 CET, due to the conditions imposed on 04/11/2020 by the CSA (now the Arcom following the merger between the CSA and Hadopi), which notably requires "that MMA fights be broadcast after 22:30 CET on linear television services and on audiovisual media services accessible free of charge, and after 20:30 CET on cinema channels and on pay-per-view services, in application of the recommendation on 07/06/2005 and the ruling on 20/12/2011."

"For the first UFC event in France, La chaine L'Équipe will be offering an exceptional programme to allow as many people as possible to experience the fights live. The programme will feature French fighters Ciryl Gane and Nassourdine Imavov as well as Australians Tai Tuivasa and Robert Whittaker," explained the channel.
