"Regarding the new financial distribution model post-2024, the Board reiterated its full support for the principles of solidarity and further investment across the football pyramid. With 42% of all revenues currently going to clubs and projects outside of the flagship UEFA Champions League, the Board noted the vital funds already going to all clubs in medium to small leagues thanks to ECA and UEFA - but with work to be done," said the European Club Association, following its executive board meeting in Istanbul (TUR) on 25/08/2022.

The clubs involved in the Champions League share 58% of the revenue generated by European competitions (and mainly by the Champions League). The remaining 42% mentioned by the ECA includes organisational costs, as well as sums paid to clubs not participating in the European Cups, to clubs eliminated in the play-offs, to the Women's Champions League, as well as to the two other men's competitions, the Europa League and the Europa Conference League (i.e. approximately €1.5bn of the €3.5bn in total annual revenue).
