Rugby/Top 14: Ian Osborne (ENG) becomes "new leading shareholder" of CA Brive alongside Vivendi

The 39 shareholders of Brive Rugby SAS have voted in favour of a capital increase allowing English entrepreneur Ian Osborne (38) to become the "leading shareholder of CA Brive," announced the club which plays in the Top 14, on 29/08/2022.

The London-born businessman will own 33% of CA Brive's shares "via his personal company Longsutton Sports Holdings Limited," according to the French regional daily La Montagne on 29/08/2022.

"Ian Osborne, who invests in major technology companies, is passionate about rugby and has ambitions to strengthen his presence in France as a long-term, proactive investor. He is the co-founder and CEO of Hedosophia (in 2012), an international investment fund supporting internet and tech companies. Ian Osborne was introduced to CA Brive by Yannick Bolloré, chairman of the supervisory board at Vivendi, in July 2021. Vivendi is one of the main shareholders of CA Brive and its main sponsor," said the Correze club, which, with €19m, is expected to have one of the lowest budgets in the Top 14 for 2022-23.
