"TF1 wants to impose a 50% increase in its remuneration on us. As our contract expired on 31/08/2022, we had no choice but to cut it. We saw what happened with Molotov (a French service for distributing TV channels via the Internet), which was attacked for infringement by TF1, and we did not want to find ourselves in this situation," said Maxime Saada, chairman of the board at the pay and free-TV group Canal+, to the French weekly Le Journal du Dimanche on 04/09/2022.

Canal+ has decided not to renew its distribution agreement with the TF1 group for the broadcasting of its free DTT channels (TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI) due to "unfounded and unreasonable demands," announced the pay and free-TV group on 02/09/2022. The channels are no longer accessible via Canal+ as of 02/09/2022.
