Rugby: Qatar Airways, partner of EPCR's European Cups and the BKT United Rugby Championship

Qatar Airways has become the "official airline partner" of European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) competitions for the South African market and the URC's BKT United Rugby Championship for Western Europe, announced the two European rugby organisations on 04/09/2022. Both partnerships will run for three seasons (2022-2025).

"As an integral part of the agreements, Qatar Airways will support EPCR and the URC to develop the game globally, with rugby currently one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and across Africa, Asia and the Middle East for both men and women," explained the two bodies. Qatar Airways has also signed a partnership with the South African Rugby Union (SA Rugby) to become its sponsor for its competitions in the southern hemisphere.

"The new partnership between EPCR and Qatar Airways follows the recent landmark confirmation that five leading South African clubs - the Stormers, Bulls, Sharks, Lions and Cheetahs - will compete in the Heineken Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge for the first time this season," said the two organisations.
