"The contract we had with Canal+ has expired and has to be renewed. Canal+ wants all the options in the contract, and says it's too expensive. The group is not obliged to take the options. Canal+ takes what it wants, but the figures quoted of +50% are completely unrealistic. The most important thing is that viewers are not deprived of the signal," said Didier Casas, secretary general of the TF1 group, to Franceinfo on 05/09/2022.

Canal+ has decided not to renew its distribution agreement with the TF1 group for the broadcasting of its free DTT channels (TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI) due to "unfounded and unreasonable demands," announced the pay and free-TV group on 02/09/2022. The channels are no longer accessible via Canal+ as of 02/09/2022.

"Canal+ claims to be a victim. The truth is the opposite. We have very significant audience impacts, which create a prejudice that we will not let go. We are not going to let ourselves be taken away from the audience and leave our viewers without the possibility of watching our channels without reacting," added Didier Casas.
