The DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga) has launched "Bundesliga Common Ground", a project aimed at "renovating and revitalising football pitches around the world to offer more young people the opportunity to play and enjoy football," announced the German league on 01/09/2022. The project is being deployed "in association with local partners and communities."

Pitches have already been inaugurated in the summer of 2022 in Lagos (NGA), Mexico City (MEX) and Rio de Janeiro (BRA) in the presence of former players from the German championship. Throughout the 2022-23 season, other pitches will be redeveloped in Germany, Argentina, Poland, the USA and South East Asia, according to the DFL.

The aim of the project is "to create a tangible contact point for the Bundesliga's fan base within the local communities, and for the pitches to serve as a local platform for community events and future Bundesliga and partner measures, such as football tournaments, coaching sessions and Bundesliga watch parties, all with the goal of inspiring young people to be active and enjoy sport," added the DFL.
