RB Leipzig: energy-saving measures at the Red Bull Arena, including reduced lighting

"Sport, and especially football, wants to set an example. That is why RB Leipzig (Bundesliga) is sending out a signal to the Red Bull Arena (47,069 capacity) with the Champions League match versus Shakhtar Donetsk (Matchday 1, 06/09/2022, 1-4) by taking immediate energy-saving measures in various parts of the stadium," announced the German club on 06/09/2022.

These measures, which include "not switching on or illuminating certain advertising elements", aim to save 15 to 20% of energy. They were first implemented and tested during this Champions League home match "in order to draw conclusions for sustainable measures and to evaluate the possibility of doing without such lighting in the long term," explained RB Leipzig.
