UEFA: fundraising campaign launched in partnership with Mastercard to support children in poverty

Mastercard has activated its partnership with UEFA and is launching, with the support of its Foundation, a fundraising campaign in favour of the NGO Save the Children aimed at helping "children in poverty realise their potential through the power of football, other sports and educational activities," announced the body on 06/09/2022. The initiative will be rolled out in Spain, the UK and Italy.

The campaign, which features Argentina international Lionel Messi, will be embodied at the national level by Jordan Henderson (ENG) in the UK, Giorgio Chiellini (ITA) in Italy and Alvaro Morata (ESP) in Spain. Each will support an initiative for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. "The UEFA Foundation for Children will support the initiative in various ways including monitoring and evaluating the campaign’s impact," said UEFA.

"Mastercard is supporting the programmes by providing the technology to allow people to donate to the cause, and matching donations made up to €300,000. The donation widgets will be accessible through links from the ambassador, Mastercard and partner social media…
