Ligue 1: the pitch of the Allianz Riviera (Nice) to be completely replaced, second time since 2014

The pitch of the Allianz Riviera (OGC Nice, capacity 35,000) will be entirely replaced by Parc and Sports, from 07 to 10/10/2014. The cost of the replacement grass, estimated at around €150,000, will be borne by Nice Eco Stadium, the operator of the Allianz Riviera.

"We welcome this change. We had expressed a strong wish for this from the operator," said Jean-Pierre Rivère, president of OGC Nice, on 02/10/2014. "The pitch was no longer playable. It concerns us for two reasons: by the injuries it causes, and because it does not allow the playing of a quality game," the president added.

Pitch already replaced in January 2014

• The Allianz Riviera was inaugurated on 22/09/2013.
• 530 sod rolls of 1.20 x 15 meters are required to cover the 9300m²  of land.
  • the first installation of the pitch of the Allianz Riviera took place in July 2013.
• Heavily damaged sections of the pitch were replaced and there were areas that were completely barren  following the RC Toulon Rugby - ASM Clermont Auvergne rugby match in November 2013.
