AS Roma: "We want (to host) the NFL and the NBA" in the Stadio della Roma (James Pallotta)

"We want to talk to the NFL (American football) and the NBA (basketball) about doing matches (at the Stadio della Roma)," said the American James Pallotta, president and majority shareholder of AS Roma (Serie A TIM), at the Leaders in Football conference at Stamford Bridge in London (ENG) on 09/10/2014.

The Stadio della Roma will help turn the Italian club into "a content (entertainment) company globally," stated Pallotta, who indicated his relationship with AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) will help bring events to Rome. "We're excited about how this changes the dynamics of what we're trying to do in Rome, and hopefully it will open up for the 2017 season."

• The Stadio della Roma project must still be approved by the authorities in the region of Lazio.
  
  • This final approval is expected in the autumn of 2014, with construction of the stadium set to begin in early 2015.
