NFL: an average of 18.5 million viewers in the USA for the first weekend of the 2022 season

The 16 games on the first weekend of the 2022 NFL season, played from 09 to 13/09/2022, posted an average audience of 18.5 million viewers on television and digital platforms in the United States (+3% compared to 2021), representing a record since 2016, announced the North American league on 14/09/2022.

Among the figures released by the NFL:

• More than 121 million fans in total watched the opening weekend's games (+5% versus 2021).

• Nearly 83 million fans watched the afternoon games broadcast by the US broadcast groups CBS and Fox on Sunday, 11/09/2022, the most since 2016 (+7% versus 2021). Over 12 billion minutes of games were watched by fans on the Sunday afternoon, the highest total ever recorded (+6% versus 2021).

• "Monday Night Football" broadcast by the pay-TV package ESPN (The Walt Disney Company) posted 20 million viewers on Monday, 12/09/2022.

• Los Angeles Rams - Buffalo Bills (10-31), the first game of the 2022 NFL season, drew an average of 21.7 million viewers on NBC Sports (a subsidiary of NBCUniversal) on Friday 09/09/2022.
