Serie A: €325.5m in expenditures and €290.8m in revenues during the 2014 summer transfer window

The 20 clubs in the Serie A TIM accumulated €325.5m expenditures and revenues of €290.8m during the 2014 the summer transfer window (01/07 to 01/09/2014), for a transfer balance of payments totaling a loss of €34.7m. This is the second lowest amount of spending and paid transfers in the Serie A since the 2010 summer transfer window (€315.4m of expenditures and transfer revenues of €280m).

The transfer spending of clubs in the Italian first division was down 31.1% compared to the 2013 summer transfer window (€472.3m). Revenues fell by 38.4% (€471.9m in the summer of 2013). Serie A is distinguished from the four other major European leagues (La Liga, Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1) by the number of transactions in the 2014 summer market: 1499 transactions (involving 957 different players), against 1872 for the other four championships together. Serie A thus represents 44.5% of transfer transactions carried out by the European Top 5 in the summer of 2014.
