AS Roma: Friedkin Group increases share in the club to over 95% & withdraws it from the stock market

AS Roma (Serie A TIM) is officially withdrawing from the stock market, according to Romulus and Remus Investments LLC, owned by the American Friedkin Group and majority shareholder of the Roman club, in a press release published on 14/09/2022. AS Roma SpA was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (ITA) in 2000.

The Texas-based group, which holds assets in the automotive, tourism and entertainment sectors, acquired an 86.6% stake in the club in August 2020 from James Pallotta (USA). At the beginning of 2022, it bought a further 3% (for €8.5m) on the stock market (free floating capital) before launching a public offer to buy back the remaining shares on 13/06/2022 (at €0.43 per share) with the aim of reaching a total of 95%, the threshold enabling it to proceed with the delisting of the club from the Milan Stock Exchange, which has been completed today. To encourage small shareholders to sell, measures such as discounts on club merchandise, invitations to the training centre and meetings with club directors were proposed.
