"The priority is to help the teams get their act together. Immediate interventions are necessary, which are in part those proposed by the Federation, which we follow and which are linked in some way to the UEFA criteria: that is to say, to accompany the teams progressively towards limits in terms of wage bill," said Lorenzo Casini, president of the Lega Serie A, on Radio Rai on 19/09/2022.

"I am not talking about the 'salary cap', i.e. the individual salary, I am talking about the overall wage bill in a club's budget. Today we have cases (clubs) that exceed 90% on the balance sheet as an impact, a ceiling that then hardly allows a company to work effectively," explained Casini.

"Fewer night matches? The energy consumption related to matches today is the same during the day and at night because the technologies we use, from VAR to goal-line technology, require perfect lighting of the pitch to avoid shadows or otherwise imperfect lighting conditions," said Casini, when asked about energy saving measures during football matches in Italy.
